Your printer might not be printing the photos properly may be due to a driver file issue. The HP driver is a generic universal printer driver, which is embedded in the Windows operating system itself. Follow the steps to load the alternate printer drivers:
- Click Start, Settings, then click Printers.
- In the Printers window, double-click the 'Add Printer' icon. The
'Add Printer Wizard' window will open.
- Click Next.
- Select 'Local Printer' and then click Next.
- In the Manufacturers list, select HP.
- In the Printers list, select your HP printer model.
- Click Next.
- Select 'Keep the existing driver (recommended)'.
- Click Next.
- Select 'LPT1' as the Port type, then click Next.
- Select 'Yes' to set the printer driver as default. This is recommended
CAUTION: If 'No' is selected you will have to ensure that the
Correct HP printer driver is selected in the Print
window within the application, each time you print.
- Click Next.
- Select 'No' to skip the test page.
- Click Next to complete the installation.
NOTE: When the Printer Wizard is copying files, you may be
prompted to insert the Windows CD-ROM into the CD drive.
If Windows is unable to locate the files or you receive a
message about missing files, ensure that the Copy files
from box shows the correct CD-ROM drive letter. If you
are unable to install the driver from the Windows CD or the
disk provided by your computer manufacturer, contact the
computer manufacturer or Microsoft for assistance locating
these drivers.
Once the driver is installed, the new HP model printer icon will be listed in the Printers window.
Configuring the alternate printer driver for USB connection
- In the Printers Window, right-click that HP printer icon
- Click Properties.
- Click the Details Tab.
- In the box next to 'Print to the Following Port', click the
down-arrow and select 'USB/Deskjet printer' from the list. (The
printer's model number and serial number should appear as part of
the port destination).
- Verify that the 'Driver' entry shows the correct HP printer
driver. If not, select the correct printer driver from the drop
down menu.
- Click Apply.
- Close the Printers window.
