Preclick Raises Series A Financing Photo Software Maker Names Geoff Judge Chief Operating Officer; Stephen Bove and Doug Rowan as Directors Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey-September 15, 2003 - Preclick Corporation, the Lifetime Photo Management Company, has raised a Series A round of financing from CA-based venture firm Logos Ventures and several prominent angel investors. The company has also hired direct marketing veteran and Internet entrepreneur Geoff Judge as its chief operating officer. Attracting new investors shows positive reception for the company's newly released Preclick Lifetime, photo software targeted at the red-hot digital camera & imaging market. Shutterbug Magazine named Preclick Lifetime "Best of Show" at this spring's Photo Marketing Association 2003, the photography industry's premiere conference. "I made an angel investment in Preclick because digital photography is an explosively growing space that's in the process of becoming mainstream. Preclick has innovative ideas about how to serve the market, uses a reliable process to develop its software, and they understand how to develop win-win relationships with key industry partners," said Arnold Kling, author of "Under the Radar: Starting Your Internet Business Without Venture Capital," and founder of Homefair.com, a real estate-related Internet site. Kling joins other independent investors, including Chris Andersen, former CEO and founder of Imagine Media, and current owner/operator of the TED conference, and Jay Torborg, former director of multimedia at Microsoft and chief technology officer at SuperMac. "As a professional photographer, I invested because Preclick is the first company that's made managing large and growing digital photo collections both easy and fast," Torborg said. Preclick added two members to its board of directors: Stephen Bove, former executive with Homestore, Inc. and general partner of Palo Alto, CA-based Logos Ventures, and Doug Rowan, who previously held executive roles at both Corbis and IBM. "Preclick's strategy is ultimately about offering a complete desktop solution for the huge and growing digital photography market. Digital photography liberates the photographer from many of the constraints of film -- they take 10 times more pictures with digital -- and they need a simple easy way to view, edit, archive, share, print, and search for this vastly greater number of images. Preclick has a smart angle on building a profitable, sustainable business in this chaotic emerging market," said Bove. "I've been a fan of Preclick since February 2002 because the company makes the most user friendly photo editing and management software currently available and has made a habit of hitting its milestones," said Rowan. "That's a challenge for any early stage start-up in today's market. Preclick's products deliver on the promise of making digital photography easy and fun." Bove and Rowan join Preclick chief executive officer Brian Smiga on the board. Since its inception, Smiga and co-founder and chief technology officer Tony Mann have carefully listened to customer input while creating Preclick Photo Organizer, its free photo software, and now Preclick Lifetime. "First, we asked owners of digital cameras to tell us their wish list of features and functions, next we shipped the defacto smallest, easiest, and fastest photo software in the world," said Smiga. "Now we have a great team and the working capital necessary for rapid growth." In a separate announcement, Preclick named Geoff Judge as chief operating officer. Judge, a veteran of direct marketing at American Express and Internet advertising, was chief operating officer at Interactive Imaginations, now part of 24/7 Media. 24/7 Media (TSFM) became one of the Internet's early advertising successes, boasting a market capitalization of $1 billion in 2000. Judge oversees Preclick's day-to-day operations, sales and marketing staff, and is focused on Internet marketing and company partnerships with retail and Internet companies. "Preclick is positioned to win several million customers out of the greater than 60 million US households that will adopt digital cameras by 2005," said Judge. "Families, our key target market, will spend over $150 per year on photography, resulting in a $7+billion market by 2005 for software and services." Preclick Corporation, a media software and services company, was founded in 2001 by industry veterans to address the search and sharing needs of the growing market of new digital camera owners. Tony Mann, CTO, Brian Smiga, CEO and the team have previously been granted four US Patents and have built award-winning software organizers Dynodex® and Actioneer®. Preclick currently offers its Lifetime Photo Organizer for free or for $19.95 at www.tucows.com, www.cnet.com, www.pcworld.com, and www.preclick.com, where more information is available. The company has licensing deals with dotPhoto and Adorama, two top-rated online photo finishers, with more licensing deals and products to come. |
